I am just back from a whirlwind of a trip. Wynn Varble, Troy Jones and I left this past Saturday morning on a plane to Miami, Fl. where we jumped on another plane to Cancun, Mexico. From there we grabbed a taxi for about a 45 min. ride to La Playa del Carmen. Briefly I will say this; if you should fly into Cancun with two buddies, who like you do not know the Spanish language, AND you don’t know how to say ‘Royal Caribbean Cruise’, or ‘Grandeur of the Sea’, or ‘HUGE BOAT’ in Spanish…. then you might want to stay home or take your Spanish teacher with you!) Regardless of how we got there, we arrived down town La Playa del Carmen just in time to catch the boat to the HUGE BOAT, just in time to sound check and perform!
I want to say this about the Ohio State Buckeye Cruise for Cancer.
I have been a lot of places in my travels and career. I have never met a nicer group of people ever, and this group was 2000 strong! Each and every single person was so kind to us, so generous and well… we were just blown away. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience meeting these people. Having the opportunity to perform on the cruise, and to meet the Ohio State Buckeye faithful is something I will never forget.
Your generous nature, your willingness to give to a cause that touches so many is amazing. Kirk Herbstriet is a great guy, all of the athletes that were donating their time were class guys. Then Ohio’s own Jimmy Buffett, Chris Logsdon.. the Ohio legend.. THANKS for your donation of your stage time Sunday night. A true entertainer willing to share his stage and spot light time is rare.. bless you my new friend.
From,Chris, Mark, Lisa, Scott, Jan, to Karen and Bob who I sat next to on the plane to Altanta today..and on and on. What a great, great group of people. To each and every one of you I got to meet and shake your hand, THANK YOU.. We want to come back, and I can only hope to see you all soon. Please visit here often. Blessings! “O-H..” !!

Bryan,
Right back at ya. My wife and I were on the cruise and thoroughly enjoyed you guys. Hope to talk to you next year on the boat. “..I-O”!!

Bryan,
“..I-O” ! (Hey Wynn….I know too!) Where do I begin…my thoughts are overflowing with emotion right now. First, thank you for your kind words; you are abundantly generous. Second, thank you and Troy and Wynn for participating in this year’s Buckeye Cruise to Cure Cancer. Your down to earth nature and absolute humility shone through in your performances. Your candid honesty in singing and sharing from the heart has won the hearts of the Buckeye Nation who attended the cruise! Each of you southern boys is more Buckeye farm boy at heart than you may ever know…and we want you back again too!!
I have performed on all three Buckeye Cruises and my three most unforgettable moments include the following: (1) The genuine love and tender caring that Chris and Stefanie Spielman visibly shared for each other; (2) Emerson Drive bringing tears to the eyes of a rowdy crowd at Sloppy Joes with their song, “Moments”; and (3) the tears welling up in your eyes as you sang the second song in your trilogy, “I Would Never do to You What You do to Me”. You truly have a gift to touch the very depths of a man’s soul with mere words and a melody. God bless you, my friend.
If you get a chance please visit my web site and view the link below. You embodied in person on stage in your performances EXACTLY what I feel in my heart every time I perform. You have made a new friend and fan for life. Take care until we meet again, –Chris–
